Health Epidemic Among Our Children...

Being a parent of two young children and being surrounded by other parents with children, I have come to recognize that we have a huge health epidemic among our children. I recently had the opportunity to sit in a PTO meeting where we discussed breakfast among children and realized many kids were eating the wrong things and that this issue of nutrition is misunderstood. If we feed our kids breakfast well then we are doing the right thing. Right? But what kids are being offered is contributing to the epidemic of poor health. Wrapped Muffins. Bagels and cream cheese. Donuts. Pancakes. Cereal. Now this is not to say that yogurt is not being offered. But what would you choose if you were a child?

I began to do some research and discovered some scary facts. Childhood obesity is on the rise and this is only contributing to the the growing health epidemic among adults, and draining our healthcare system due the number of illnesses related to obesity. I came across many websites and services attempting to battle this very issue, like The Red Apple Foundation or The Alliance for a Healthier Generation which is both trying to educate and get others to participate in this awareness and take part in the change. The question is how do we battle the huge companies (the food companies) that benefit from the obesity epidemic. And did you ever notice that cheaper foods are also less in money. I was a victim of this very issue. I tried to save money by buying the no name brands, until I started reading the ingredients. Guess what? Corn syrup was a main ingredient in all the food that I was feeding my children. Now my kids know to read the ingredients and they tell me we shouldn't buy certain products because it has corn syrup. My children have become a part of this exploratory discovery of healthier eating. I know most parents would rather provide their children with healthier food if they learned the long term benefits for their family. No one is on a mission to turn their children into obese adults!

I have been fortunate to have a business that also promotes prevention and this experience has given me a better understanding of health and wellness. However, this business was directed to the adult community and not to children. All the educational forums I have come across for helping and improving children's healthy choices, provides the food pyramid and talks about eating fruits and vegetables. However, this is nothing new and innovative. Then recently, The Trump Network collaborated with one of the industry leaders of childhood obesity, Dr. Ludwig, who's passion in improving the health of our children is demonstrated through his history of work! The Trump Network recognized this gap in the market and this need among our children and growing families and provided a solution.

Imagine being able to provide your children with healthier snack options choc full of micronutrients, protein and the necessary fats and carbohydrates to promote and improve behavior in school and home. Can you imagine the ease of saying to your child have this yummy bar or drink this chocolate milk and know with complete confidence they will drink and eat the essential minerals and omeg3s to promote continued health vs contribute to weight gain. Most important the kids just do what they know how to do, eat. No swallowing pills or drinking something nasty. My kids loved these foods as they were part of the tasting, and now ask me every day when is it going to be available. This doesn't mean that they will stop eating the fruits and vegetables, but in place of the pretzels, crackers and chips, they will have something filled with all the essential nutrients and I will know with confidence they are starting their day off on the right foot and happy about doing it. Forget the cafeteria offerings and vending machines!

How Do I Go About Choosing the Right Home Business?

So how does one decide on the right home based business? Do they do the business their friend shared with them. Not a bad plan given that you have a team already in place because doing any business with others is a lot easier than doing it alone. But, what if that business does not spark your interest. Or worse yet, what if the person who introduced the business to you doesn't have the same business mindset as you do. Or, what if it's just a plain dumb idea! Now what?

If you don't have that creative juice like me, where does that leave you? What I've come to realize is that there are many opportunities out there. You just have to come out of your cave. You know, that place of comfort, the place you go to every day and do the same thing. You need to network and find out what others are doing. While there are many opportunities out there, not all of them are good ones. How do you choose among the many thousand options? There are four key ways to start making money and achieve wealth: Own your own business, open a franchise, invest in real estate, participate in a network marketing company.

I have chosen the latter two options. While I was a realtor for the past 8 years dealing in residential sales, my husband and I chose to start investing beginning in 2007. My husband pooled investors together and for very short money of his own put together a deal. Now, he has access to REO properties for even shorter money as he was able to partner with a broker who has the relationships with major banks. We are happy to share with you the secrets of how this is done. Just give us a call and we can schedule a time to speak (Oh by the way there is no charge, we are just happy to share). Check out a Free Workshop taking place in the Massachusetts area October 4-7 to learn how this is done through Trump University. I will be attending October 6th.

The fourth option, is one we discovered because I happened to just be in the right place at the right time. I don't know if you've ever had the opportunity to be in right place at right time and actually knew you were. I didn't but I took notice of what was being shared with me. I took notice because I was professionally frustrated because I was tired of working 7 days a week and wanted to find a way that would allow us to work hard now to reap the rewards later...while we had the energy. What we discovered was the amazing industry of network marketing. We joined Trump Network right away!

As I began to learn more about this business I also learned more about this industry. Amway set the stage for the network marketing industry (and we thank them for that) and now we have several different companies that people have affiliated with. However, what I have learned is that the wealthiest individuals have all gotten in at the beginning of popular growth, before a company becomes a household name. Persistance and a willingness to not give up is also a secret ingredient. This is an ingredient for success in any kind of industry. In meeting with other people involved with other companies, the most important determining factor to someone's success is their passion for what they are doing. Without belief or passion, you might as well quit and look into something else, like a hot dog stand. What I also love and am passionate about is this industry is open to anyone...anyone that is willing. This means you don't have to be good looking, have a college degree or know a lot of people. You just have to be willing. The reality is the less connected you are you have to work harder getting to know people who know others. The questions is what are you willing to do to get to reach your goals? Whether we recognize it or not, people buy from people they trust! Network marketing is simply this...if you like what you buy you will speak about it to others. Why not get paid for educating people to the products and business. Why should we leave money on the table? So choose wisely.

Ask yourself a few key questions: Is the business you are looking into offering a gap in the market? This is why Dell computers was so successful during the technology boom. Can anyone else come along and duplicate your business and offer for cheaper price? Robert Kiyosaki writes about how this competition in the market caused him to lose his business. In fact, Donald Trump has endorsed several different network marketing companies because he knows for very nominal start up cost (average is about $500), people can get started in making money and opt out of this recession. The other person who writes about this industry is Paul Zane Pilzer in his book entitled the Wellness Revolution. Pilzer suggests that in order for the business to be sustainable you need products that are consumable. He also goes on to suggest that the wellness industry is the next trillion dollar industry as a direct result of the aging baby boomers.

So whatever you choose to take part in, choose wisely and have a lot of fund doing it!

Why Supplementing is Important to Our Continued Health!

I am not a nutritionist. I have no health background or foundation in wellness or sciences. I am a mother of two children, and a product of parents who taught me about good health. My parents were very "earthy" and emphasized good nutrition and eating the "right" foods. When I became a parent, raising my children on a healthy diet just was part of my nature, it was how I was wired. What I discovered, however, was that what I was feeding my children was not at all healthy and was doing more harm than good. Like many parents I was feeding my children, bagels and cream cheese, pretzels, cereal, toast, pasta and more pasta. Oh and yes, fruit and the ocassional vegetable that was willingly consumed. So what's so wrong with this picture? Most of the foods that my children were consuming were useless. They were mostly carbs and very little protein. No wonder there is such an epidemic of obesity among children. In fact, 1 out of 4 children are obese today! I'm not great at math, but this means that 25% of children are obese. So what's the problem? Is the problem that parents like me don't care or aren't trying hard enough? No. Of course not. Do you know that I went to the market today to find a wheat bread and as I read the ingredients discovered it had con syrup in it. Then, I proceeded to read the ingredients of all the wheat breads and could not find a brand that did not have corn syrup. Basically, our choices are limited to what we can buy. The quality of food has gotten worse than when I was a kid. I can only assume that we are lowering the quality to bump up the net profit. But, then again what do I know. I'm only a mother of two children without any background in health.

What I have learned in my quest to discover better health is that simply eating organic food is not enough to maintain good health. How is this? With the amount of money we spend on buying better quality food you would think we would be getting better quality food. Well, it is true that it is absent of pesticides. However, it is lacking in the same nutrients and the pesticide filled food. For years studies have been conducted and have demonstrated that our food is lacking in a laundry list of vitamins and minerals that it used to contain 50+ years ago because we are not replenishing the soil. No wonder people are getting more sick. No wonder cancer is on the rise! No wonder there is an epidemic of disease. So, not only do we need better choices in our food, we need a good quality supplement!

Where does this leave us with our children?
